Progress

Happy Friday Everyone!

It has been quite the week for Tailored for Education and we could not be happier about the progress we've made.  We learned a vaulable lesson this week: the power of TWITTER!

It started Monday morning with an awesome blog post from Meg (thanks again Meg).  The excitment continued through Monday night with a two tweets from celebs on the west coast (more on thatlater)!  We welcomed Tuesday with big smiles because we had received a RECORD number of donations on Monday.  I don't think we have stopped smiling since!  In addition, we had a few great conference calls and identified three new possible partnerships to help the children of Ghana, Hondurus and Kenya.  All three projects blew our minds with the amazing things these nonprofits are doing and we cannot wait to help!

Throughout the week we have reached some new milestones too; we added 100 new facebook "likes" in a week and doubled our twitter followers.  To sum it up, we get to spread our message to a lot more people!  Its been a great week and we are elated with the possibility of even better weeks ahead as we help increase the number of children in school worldwide!

To all of our supporters, new and old......THANK YOU!

Sneak Peak

In between meetings today we found a wonderful suprise in our inboxes: Dominique at the Children of Haiti Project (COHP) in Port-au-Prince sent us pictures of new uniforms for the whole school mid-production!  Thanks Dominique!

Needless to say we were so excited to catch a gilpse of the uniforms.  These pictures certainly provided us with some inspiration on this cold day!

We can't wait to tell you about all of the wonderful things going on at the COHP school and show you pictures of the children in their finished uniforms!

Haiti 2 Years Later

Today marks the two year anniversary of the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that devastated Haiti.  Over the past few days we have read stories, reports and updates on how Haiti has changed and started the rebuilding process.  Today with many others, we celebrate the spirit of the Haitian people and all they have overcome since 2010.

One of the most humbling topics that kept coming up as we began building TFE was the rebuilding of Haiti post-earthquake. Many people would refer to Haiti by saying "pre earthquake" or "post-earthquake" "earthquake affected" or "not earthquake affected." We remember the earthquake and the immediate devastation it caused, but until Tailored for Education we didn't understand the true magnitude. We have been amazed by all the wonderful people that have continued to work to make the lives of those who survived better and honor those lost. Kenbe La Foundation and Haiti Partners rebuilding schools, Please Pass the Bread and Catholic Relief Services providing meals, Charity Water providing clean water, Partners in Health treating patients, COHP getting children living in tents to school , UNICEF supporting the many children that lost one or both parents, the Gengel Family building an orphanage in memory of their daughter Brit, The Feed Foundation providing meals to children through the purchase of their FEED HAITI bag (which both founders of TFE sport daily and love). This list doesn't even scratch the surface of the number of organization who have been working since 2010 and won't be stopping any time soon!

We hope that you will join us in our quest to give the children of Haiti an opportunity at a better life through education. Our most recent school benefits children who are still living in a tent camp, like the one pictured above. It cost us just $17.05 per uniform to provide these children with a new set of clothing they can call their own and wear to school with pride. Please consider joining our cause and helping us give more children something to smile about!

12 Goals for 2012

Around here we LOVE lists of all kinds.  Over the past few days we took some time to review our TFE lists from 2011 and think about what we want to accomplish as an organization in 2012.  Yes, they are lofty but we love a challenge and feel confident that with your help we can reach each one!
After lots of thought and a little math here they are....

Goals for 2012

1.       Raise $250,000
2.       Provide uniforms to 5,000 children
3.       Form partnerships with at least three other NGOs to further our cause
4.       Have people we have never met start spreading the word about us
5.       Visit one school and meet the children we have provided uniforms to
6.       Make the news!
7.       Have Altruette create a charm for our cause
8.       Create an awesome product (send suggestions!) that will benefit Tailored for Education
9.       Throw a fabulous event…ideas welcome!
10.   Share with our supporters more personal stories about the children we are helping
11.   Fund a school in Southeast Asia, where we know uniforms are in need
12.   Get accepted into the Institute of Nonprofits

Wish us luck and thank you in advance for your continued support!
